EXCELLENT Based on 43 reviews Posted on paul navariTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We fished for 2 days out of Puerto Escondido. We did one day offshore and another inshore. We caught fish both days, 4 sailfish the first day and Rooster fish and several other species the second. Rey the captain is professional and its a family affair with his son and other relatives acting as first mate.Posted on Kenai Fly FishTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. As the owner of Kenai Fly Fish, and someone who has guided for 21 years in the States, I’ve hired guides and captains all around the world. I can confidently say Ray is top tier. His boat is extremely clean, organized, and dialed in. The fish are handled properly and with care, which is something I pay close attention to as a professional guide. Ray is a highly experienced captain who knows how to put clients on fish, whether you’re fishing conventional gear or prefer to fly fish for billfish. His boat positioning, fish awareness, and communication are dialed — that level of skill only comes from serious time on the water. He also speaks excellent English, which makes the experience seamless if your Spanish is as bad as mine. I wouldn’t go with any other captain. If you’re serious about doing it right, Ray’s Sportfishing is the one.Posted on Ryan McKayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Rey is an absolute pro! I had always wanted to catch a Sailfish on a fly rod and Rey made it happen even outside of peak season. Not to mention the incredible wildlife we saw including a thresher shark leaping out of the water, humpback whale, loads of dolphins and turtles. Couldn't recommend Rey more highly.Posted on Skeet CanadaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Here is the real skinny on these guys! “Absolutely the best” I googled “best Pacific Sailfish Fishing in Mexico, The answer was Puerto Escondido, so, here I am. I booked Rey because the photos on his website seemed to be mostly of catching Sailfish and that was my whole purpose for going to Puerto Escondido. Got to the beach at 6:00 AM ready to go and waited about an hour for my 6:30 AM start. A smaller, different, single engine boat with a different skipper showed up and said let’s go! I’m thinking WTF but being anxious to get out on the water so off I go! Turns out that Captain Rey was I’ll that morning and his larger, newer, twin engine boat had been damaged by another boat at the harbour and needed to be repaired. Apparently, not to disappoint me, at a last minute alternative, Rey enlisted his father, a forty year + veteran Fishing guide to get me out on the water. Well, honestly, I must put all the other stuff that I probably could complain about aside and be honest about how good this 8 Hr fishing trip was. I’ve gone Sailfish fishing every year for over 10 years and have been to 4 other Mexican west coast fishing destinations, the Dominican, Costa Rica, Antigua, St. Martins, etc, etc and I’ve never had a better day of Sailfish fishing! Hooked 8 or 9, landed 6 all over 25 Kg’s and two well over 30 kg. Now, I’m hoping to get a day out with Rey and see if he stacks up to his legendary Father!Posted on Randy RoszellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Was fortunate to get out with Rey and his first mate Oliver today. It was a perfect day that started with catching some baitfish. Rey let me catch my own bait and to me being involved is always appreciated. It took some time to get out to Rey’s fishing grounds but in no time at all we had our first Pez Vela. A hefty fish that probably weighed close to 100lbs. For the next two hours there was plenty of action but nothing stayed on. And then we got into our second. A smaller fish at about 65 lbs I think. The ocean was calm and it usually is, Rey was great at minding the lines and changing baits if things slowed down. I appreciated his help learning and practicing Spanish, and he was a very patient teacher. Without hesitation I would go with Rey again!Posted on Raúl JiménezTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
